Full Stack Developer
Rakettitiede hosts developers with an impressive range of IT and Internet skills. Our daily grind consists of working with web and mobile services, IoT and embedded systems.
We are looking for new crew members, that is, more first-class full stack developers for future client assignments! Our top-notch devs (aka "Rocket Scientists" – the Finnish word rakettitiede means rocket science in English) work as consulting developers/architects in client assignments, and help them as a part of their product development team.
What makes a Rocket Scientist?
Experience and graduating from the school of hard knocks is important when working as a consultant, because the client expects that the consultant is the one who has been-there-done-that, not the other way around. Although most of the work we do is done in teams, rocket scientists need to be able to build things independently too, sometimes from scratch.
There is no precise recipe for success, but most of our newcomers have over five years of versatile software development experience under their belt before climbing aboard.
At Rakettitiede full stack really means full stack: the same individual is a front end and back end specialist, an integration expert and database pundit all bundled into one. And despite the versatility, everyone still maintains their own personal focus areas and interests.
What opportunities do we offer?
Important areas of expertise are SPA’s, cloud environments, backend systems (interfaces, business logic, databases), testing and DevOps. The technologies used depend on the client’s needs, but usually, our consultants bump into the following: React, Angular, Vue, Node.js, Java, Go, C#, Python, AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, SQL, TypeScript and Linux.
We have shorter spurts and continuous, several-year-lasting collaborations, and our clients range from startups to listed companies. There’s one common factor though: our beloved developers get to work with interesting challenges. And, of course, provide opportunities for professional development.
Why become a Rocket Scientist?
We seek to provide you with challenging and attractive work opportunities and give you the chance to choose the assignments you prefer.
Since we don’t consider you an anonymous resource, we won’t try to trick you with a ball pit or after-work pints to draw your attention away from dreary client work. Instead, Rocket Scientists enjoy one of the best salaries in the business: the average yearly gross was about 91 000 euros in 2023 (2022: 91,5k).
Where is the work done?
We work as a part of the client’s organization and most of them are located in the Greater Helsinki area. Ways of working depend on the client and the team. The trend seems to be that remote work is possible, but it is good to be prepared to visit the client’s premises 2-3 times a week.
When physical togetherness is not possible, Slack, the cornucopia of conversation flows to you wherever you might be. The Rocket Science central administration governs gently and wisely from our headquarters in Kamppi and the doors are open to every rocket scientist as well.
